FF:CC

Posted on February 16, 2004

Well, my mom came how from work today with Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles.  And I have to say, that game is AWESOME.  The graphics are some of the best I have ever seen on all three of the current systems.  And I thought FFX (PS2) looked good (the game is two years old?  Nate let me borrow it almost a monht ago).  The sound is awesome, controls are perfect, the perfect game for Square to release on a Nintendo (home console) system after 8 years.  Single player is awesome, it's fun and challenging, but multiplayer is where it's really at.  But the problem is that I haven't been able to play multiplayer yet...  See, the FF:CC requires each person to have their own GBA and GBA -> GCN connector cord.  Single player works fine with a standard GCN controller.  Multiplayer requires the GBAs because if each player were to (without a GBA) keep switching their command list, items, equipment, checking letters, etc., it would really piss off the other players because they'd have to wait for the person to manage their stuff, and each player couldn't do it at the same time.  But with the GBAs, each player can do their stuff while the others are still fighting, but this leaves that player vulnerable, so the others must protect him/her.  Also, with the GBAs, each player gets a different radar, enemies, treasure, etc.  So teamwork is really required to coordinate things.  In single player, there's a Mog that carries the Crystal Chalice, a shield of sorts against the deadly fog.  In multiplayer there is no such Mog.  A player must carry it, but the player cannot attack while carrying it, so they must drop it if they wish to fight.  And choosing who carries it isn't easy either, rock paper scissors?  On Thursday GameStop gets another shipment of the cables, so that's when we'll get one or two more (already have one).  But..  Brian and I will be at the LAN Party..  hm...

So.. yea.  Jason, Paul (or anyone?  I only said Jason and Paul cause I know they have GameCubes).  Do either of you have a cable?  Are either of you interested in this game?  That'd be cool, even if it is only two players.  Oh well.
