I surprise myself

Posted on March 17, 2005

Despite my horrible hand-eye coordination with Volleyball and Table Tennis, I'm actually doing pretty decently at Badmitton.  It's nothing like I remember from 7th grade gym...  I remember the net being high, at LEAST as high as the volleyball nets were several weeks ago.  Plus I don't remember being able to hit the birdy at all, but now it's incredibly easy.  It's actually pretty fun.

We took a nasty BIO test on Monday.  I was certain that I was gonna do absolutely HORRIBLE.  There were 42 questions.  The average was 14.5.  Before I got my test back I was sure that my score was gonna be in the single digits.  "The high scores were 25, 21, 20, and 19." ... "Doctor Lademan!"  WTF?  I look at my Scantron sheet: 19.  "Holy crap!"  Yes, I actually said "Holy crap!"  I did not expect a nineteen!  I did not expect a decent score!  Wow!  I was above the average on this test!  Sweet!  19/42 is still horrible, at least he curves the test grades.

  1. Wow that test must have been really nasty. Usually, if the average isn’t above 60%, there should be a re-test, or some kind of make-up. But since he’s scaling the marks, the people who got low marks will benefit from it the most.

  2. Oh yea.  Gotta love AP classes.  There’s always some sort of grade curve/scale.  In my English class, for example, the letter grades are shifted down by about 3-5%.  So an A- is roughly 87%-92%, or something very close.  It’s really nice.
