you start thinking about your characters’ personalities and start coming up with pasts for them.. 
I’ve got two points of view on this whole thing:
- Hey, sweet, at least I’m writing something. Gotta get those creative juices flowing somehow.
- Oh shit! No! I’ll be writing fanfic! Ahh!!!@!!~shift+one

You should write though you do want to write storys for video games.
