Perfect Temperature
Is not what we have right now. Weather.com says that we're at 69F with 75% humidity. Either give me about twenty percent less humidity with the same temp, or give me about eight degrees cooler with the same humidity. Actually, I'd prefer the latter. The humidity makes the air smell nice. Also, keep up the gusts. I think I might go wander around downtown sometime today, perhaps.
I need to work big time on my COM paper and presentation this weekend. I can start working on my precalc paper after COM on Monday. Precalc is due on Friday, though, so that should be fairly easy to pull off.
I upgraded WordPress again last night. It has neat features here or there. That's not why I upgraded. I upgraded because I couldn't use a certain admin theme with the old verison I was using. This new admin theme is great compared to the old one I was using, which was broken (but still tons better than the original WordPress admin theme) when I last upgraded. WordPress now has native support for Globally Recognized Avatars, which is neat. I'm having trouble getting them placed properly in the comments without breaking formatting. I think they're semi-OK right now, but I'll get them perfect when I start work on a new theme this summer. If I start on a new theme this summer. I really suck at design and aesthetics. I would like to be well rounded when it comes to HTML+CSS stuffs. I can generally do the code part fine, but the making it look good is where I need to advance. Take this theme, for example, it's pretty simple and gets the job done, but it doesn't particularly stand out and make you go "Wow, he knows what he's doing." And I don't even mean over the top themes, just something simple that looks good. Kinda like good ol' Oliver here.
Man this new admin theme is amazing, I wish you guys could see it. It's similar to the old one I was using, but less OSX inspired and more streamlined. Plus it incorporates a lot of the layout changes made to the default admin theme which is fairly nice. No longer do I have to scroll down to hit the publish button, it's on the right. Categories were moved to below the post entry, which kinda sucks because I've started using them again.
This definitely feels like one of those Saturdays where I'd be at Paul's house (just about every other weekend, because on the other weekends he'd be over at my house) playing Uniracers on the SNES or Donkey Kong 64 on the N64 and his Dad would have all the doors and windows open and be cleaning up the house. They did this every (other?) Saturday or so. Sometimes he had us wash and wax his car, too. I never complained, it's always fun to play with water on a warm day. Mind you, this would be during elementary and junior high school.
Man does the air smell good. There's also supposed to be incoming thunder storms. We were supposed to get some last night too, but it was just a simple rain. And the night before was supposed to be pretty wet but all of the green and orange on the radar just went north of us, which reminds me of home where storms have literally split up before Shelby Township / Sterling Heights and then joined back up after they passed over us. There would be a little open pocket between all the green if you looked at the radar. It was so damn annoying.
I think I might skip work today and make up the hours next week (which will be no problem, I've gotten used to pulling six hours on Fridays) just so I can enjoy the day during the day. I'll be on AIM for a bit if anyone wants to hit up the outdoors. Anyone, IN CHICAGO! Hahaha Michigan people (laughs)
And by "be on AIM for a bit," I mean that I'll be on for the next several hours playing PSO. Paul took my mag to raise it so that I could work on leveling the right character (the mag I'm working towards can only be evolved correctly on certain characters, plus Paul is on more than me anyway), which is at level 60 now! Just twenty more levels until Ultimate. Or I could go to the Chinese ship and play ultimate now, but that would just be a massacre. I fear that at level 80 (the normal level requirement for the Ultimate difficulty) it would still be the same. Too bad most of the good rares which would help me out are in... Ultimate and the later levels of Very Hard. Both of which are tough for me.
Maybe I'll run some low levels through some quests or something, that was fun the last time I did that.

The chess and checkers lawn sets are back! Huzzah.
Last night's precalc make-up exam went pretty... terribly. I brainfarted, second-guessed myself... I don't expect a good grade on it. That's two now that are crap. :???:
This morning's precalc exam, however, brought my hopes up! I answered every question! That is a first! That means that I have a maximum of a hundred points. That is always good, compared to the max of like seventy points on the make-up because I just didn't even attempt a couple of the questions and the second-guessing myself made me get one of the answers wrong. I looked over the entire exam this morning before I turned it in and I could only see one potential problem: For the question about Riemann sums I was given three-fourths of the page to work in, I used one fourth of that. This is kind of disconcerting because the exam from last year had a Riemann sum question on it and he used the entire space and wrote a shitton of stuff. I did what I think was essentially the same thing, but much more condensed, I hope. We'll see. The rest of it looked great otherwise, so hopefully at least a B on this exam. :D
I got my image headlines back! YES! They look so much better than regular text and draw attention to the fact that they are titles and should be regarded as such. They be demandin' respect, yo.
The plugin I ended up having to use is a rewrite of the old one I was using because the old one isn't (and won't be) updated and therefore does not work with WordPress 2.3. The new one has a better admin interface too.
I think that during the summer I will start work on a DS project (probably a simple platformer or something) and also work on a new layout for my site.
Casey might be able to get a 27" TV with component in for the summer if his brother(s?) are cool. I have component cables for mah Wii. Awesomes.
Spring time equals warm weather equals short skirts on girls. Short skirts on girls that I would not expect to be in short skirts. (that's a good shocked reaction)
The feeling of hopelessness that I had Sunday night / Monday morning faded later that night. I honestly don't know why, but... hey. I appreciate not feeling like crap at the moment so I ain't gonna question it.
Yes!

Replace CURRENT TOPIC:PROG LAN with ADVANCED JAVA PROGRAMMING. The title and description make the class sound like a lecture on current events and recent developments regarding programming languages. NOPE! Bauer says it's an advanced Java programming class. Sweet! It also counts as a CS Technical elective for the CIS degree. AND IT'S WITH PROF K. / GEORGE / SEA PLOOS PLOOS!!
Science and Belief sounds damn interesting. I am so happy that a spot opened up again after they all closed.
Oh! That's six credit hours right there! Meaning I can apply for federal aid through the FinAid department of IIT! Shit man, I better get some monies. I only get 67% of the summer tuition covered by my awards, same as the other semesters.
Papers AND Exams!
I had to remind my precalc professor about the make-up for midterm 2. Supposedly he's going to drop it off at the ARC today and I can take it anytime before seven tonight or tomorrow night. Definitely tomorrow, but... still. Argh. Midterm 2 make up Tuesday night, Midterm 3 Wednesday morning. asdklfjasdl;fj
And if he requires a list of resources for the outline I turned in today I'm going to punch him in the face.
I wonder when I'll find out what I got on the midterm 2 make up for Psych... Fuck papers, fuck my amazing procrastination skills. alskdjfal;sdkf
This is my second year of college, I should know better. Oh well, I'll need to develop a good work ethic for the summer, no matter the classes I choose I'm sure, and hopefully that'll carry over into the following Fall and Spring semesters. Speaking of which, because I don't have to pay the $11 for hosting, and this walgreen's wart remover (the namebrand stuff was $4 more expensive and I'm on a budget here) + a single bar of walgreen's soap cost me only ~$8.50, I can withdraw the $20, stick ten of it on my card for laundry, and use the other ten to pay Health Services so that I can register! Huzzah. Registration :???:
If I’m reading this right
I don't actually have to make any payments on my hosting by the 24th. The emails I was getting were regarding my domain, which is renewed yearly for free because I host with Dreamhost. Looking at my invoice, it looks like I chose the 2 year plan again back in '07, despite my remembering choosing the 1 year plan at some point. I dunno if it's because I switched from the two year to the monthly plan or what, but apparently I am overpaid on my account, too! By like $84. Oh man! You have no idea how much that $11 was bothering me! Looks like I can safely by a single bar of soap once Walgreen's opens in the next few hours as well as withdraw $20 + $2 service charge fee (dumb) for laundry ($20 is the least I can take out of the ATM). Once the direct deposit goes through on Friday then I can buy a whole packet of soap that'll probably last me through the summer. And shampoo. Oh man. I don't even wanna live this close to zero ever again :( Oddly, housing still hasn't cashed the second $300 check.
This week: I get paper fucked.
Rough draft for Precalc paper (wat) due in less that four hours. Presentations for COM paper start on Wednesday. Psych paper due Thursday. Precalc final draft due a week from Friday.
In an effort to be on top of things, I told myself that I would spend each day this weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) working on each paper. What did I do instead? Video games and sleep. I am currently on the oddest sleep schedule. It's been like this since mid to early last week.
I'm more worried about the COM paper than anything. Seven to eight pages on a shit topic. Thankfully the rough draft for precalc can also be an outline. Here, lemme bullshit some stuff up real quick... But then I gotta do the homework for the class as well. The psych paper is three to five pages of analyzing, using the DSM, someone famous who has been diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder. I can probably poop that out over a day or two. Wednesday, for COM, is first-round presentations. I could attend and simply not volunteer to go, or I could skip and just work on my paper. Either way I present on Monday, but one of those options is a better use of my time.
This could work out better than I originally thought. Just gotta... work and not get distracted... Like I am right now. Fuck. Three hours. And I need to go to Walgreen's and buy a soap and shower and eat before class. I'll probably end up half-assing my homework while in class :???:
The COM syllabus says nothing of when the research paper itself is due, so it's probably safe to assume that the paper is due on presentation day :(
My printer just decided to freak out. Thankfully, AFTER I printed the outline.
