“broken” links

Posted on October 5, 2003

I fixed the link to the template page in this entry.  It was linked to "templateMT.html".  When you view that entry by itself, it's in the archives directory.  Thus pointing you to "archives/templateMT.html".  Which doesn't exist.  It worked fine while on the main page because the main page is in the same dir as templateMT.html.  Well, I fixed it, it'll go to the right page now.  As if it really matters.

Hm…

Ok, I finally managed to get a side bar on the right side of the page.  Check it out here (templateMT.html case sensitive).  I dunno if it's what I really want anymore, it makes the posts look too squished, plus it doesn't look to well in anything below 1024x768...(EDIT: nor does it display properly in anything ABOVE 1024x768 i.e. 1280x1024) I dunno, leave comments on what you think.  Should I change it around some more?  Resize some things?  Stick with the current layout?  Comment!

Oh, I also moved the recent entries above the archives (on the regular page, not the template), it just makes more sense.

Ahh!!  The acid!  It burns!

I left my Chem goggles in the cafeteria, damnit...  I'll have to buy another pair from Ms. Fonfara, but they should only be like $2, so it's not that bad..

It gets harder and harder to come up with interesting titles for these entries.

See my layout for this page?  See that bar on the left?  View the source code, check the style sheet, no where (that i've seen) is there code for that bar to be on the left!  It goes like this (this is after the first body tag, and it's not HTML):
SATOSHI'S SITE
MT ENTRY INFO
MT COMMENT/TRACKBACK INFO
SIDE BAR

There's no "align='left'" or anything!  It really pisses me off because I wanna move some of those elements over to the right side of the page, and because I wanna know how they did it!  Well, I've got time to screw around with it tomorrow during Web Page, that class is sooo easy right now.  Here's an example html file that I had to make (and it was one of the more "harder" ones):

<html>
<head>
<title>Tony Lademan Lab 1-3</title>
</head>
<body bgcolor="#FFFFC6">
<h1><center>Phi Kappa Phi</center></h1>
<hr size="5" noshade>
<p>Phi Kappa Phi is blah blah blah.  Copy paragraph from book here.</p>
<h2>Some stuff, blah blah</h2>
<ul>
<li>Stuff</li>
<li>Some more stuff</li>
<li>Even more stuff</li>
<li>Will the stuff ever end!?</li>
</ul>
</body>
</html>

Fun!  not

Nothing else to say..

The weekend!  Finally!

Today's my second day without homework, yesterday was my first.

My mom said that she would transfer some money into her paypal account a few days ago, and that it'd finally get in there by today or yesterday.  So.. today we're going shopping!  On e-bay!  I found a really cheap, but really nice video capture card for David's computer on there.  It supports s-video (which I recently got a cable for the gamecube/n64 that outputs via s-video.  Man does it look AWESOME!), the standard A/V yellow plug, and a cable/antenna input.  I'm getting this card for david's machine because he doesn't have a TV in his room, and at $14.99, I'm more than willing to pay for all of it.  There was one at best buy that costs $50, and it's missing an s-video input and it's a few year's old.  Now, instead of having another Gamecube always downstairs on the TV, I can have it in David's room for some after school Gamecubing!  I, eventually, plan on getting regular cable into his room too, we've got it in our room, so it shouldn't be too hard.

About the whole template thing..  I'm just gonna let the site sit like this for a while, I might change the colors to reflect those of my old template, but that might be it for a while.

There's a handy little links area on the bottom left of this page.  You can still access my sub pages!  The artwork, writings, and contact info pages, they still exist!  They are still in the old layout though, but that's not a bad thing.  And, when you click Home on those pages, it will lead you to this main page.  Below my pages are some links to outside sites that I really enjoy.  Take a look, they're good.

Edit: Oh!  I wanna say thanks to Jason (Dioji) for helping me migrate over to Movable Type.  If it weren't for him, I'd still be reading the overly complicated instructions.  Thanks Jason!

Edit (3:46PM): Well, there goes letting the template sit as it is for a while.  I've completely redone the color scheme to make it look like my old one.  I, personally, like it.  Although the layout is different, it's... cleaner.  Now that I've got the color scheme on here, I'm glad to say that my site is fully back!  Though it was never really gone..

Movable Type

Posted on September 4, 2003

Well look at that!  I imported all of my old blogger posts!  And I can actually view the archives now!  This is great!  Except, they're a bit messed up, the bold title that you used to see is now a run on into the main body.. and there's no space between the title and the body (my fault).  The title that MT (Movable Type) displays is the first five words of those old posts (NOT my fault).  But that's alright, this MT thing is pretty darn cool.  It took a while to install and set up, mostly cause I was running out of space on this server.  Plus!  I've got comments working!  Yea!  Kick ass!  And... all of the update software and what not is on my server, so I don't have to worry about the publishing software's servers being down.  Awesome indeed.  Well, I'm gonna play around a bit more, maybe try and get my old template working with MT.
